Fête de la science: Lake Geneva and the history of glacial theory
Sunday 06 October 2024
09:30 to 16:00
Location : Parking de Prébuza
Presentation
This hike offers several remarkable views of Lac Léman, the Gavot plateau (morainic deposits), and the last northernmost peaks of the French Alps: La Dent d'Oche and les Mémises.
Weather permitting, the ascent of Mont Baron also offers a view of the glaciers and peaks of the Mont-Blanc Massif. This panorama and the different rocks encountered will provide an opportunity to revisit the questions raised by the 19th-century naturalists and explorers who developed the glacial theory.
OpeningsSunday 6 October 2024 between 9.30 am and 4 pm.
