Conference: Musical heritage in the Savoy region
Sunday 26 January 2025
at 17:00
Location : Salle Gavotine
Presentation
Did you know that one of the most precious musical manuscripts of the 15th century was copied in Thonon? That the famous song "Étoile des Neiges" is a cover version of a huge German hit?
That the violin has long been the most common instrument in every valley of Savoy? The musical heritage of the Pays de Savoie is abundant: scholarly works by composers of the Savoy Court, traditional and popular songs, instrumental practices in rural societies... It's a whole cultural heritage to share! During this discovery lecture, Nicolas Perrillat will give an overview of existing heritage collections, and present musical instruments and examples of songs from different eras.
